Overview

MG 1/100 RX-78-2 Gundam Ver.2.0 is Bandai’s Master Grade interpretation of the original Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam, designed with proportions and exterior styling that closely follow its appearance in the television anime.

Rather than using the heavily panel-lined or mechanically revised look found on some later RX-78-2 versions, Ver.2.0 keeps the outer armor clean and simple. Underneath, however, it features a detailed full inner frame with extensive articulation and mechanical structure.

The included FF-X7 Core Fighter can transform and dock inside the Gundam’s torso as the Core Block. A separate display stand is also included, allowing the Core Fighter to be shown independently.

With its broad selection of classic weapons—including the Beam Rifle, Hyper Bazooka, Shield, Beam Sabers, Beam Javelin, Gundam Hammer, and Super Napalm—this is a complete RX-78-2 package for builders who prefer the original anime design.

Things to Note

• This is a plastic model kit and requires assembly.

• The Gundam Hammer includes a chain section that requires careful handling during display.

MG RX-78-2 Gundam Ver.2.0 is a good choice for builders who want the original Gundam to look like the machine seen in the television anime rather than a heavily redesigned modern interpretation.

The armor is intentionally clean, but the build itself is not basic. Beneath the simple exterior is a detailed inner frame, while the transformable Core Fighter adds an important part of the original Gundam’s mechanical design.

The accessory selection is another major strength. The Beam Rifle, Bazooka, Shield, Beam Javelin, Gundam Hammer, and Super Napalm allow several classic One Year War display setups without needing an additional weapon pack.

Compared with Ver.3.0, this version feels less like a real-world statue and more like the animated RX-78-2. That makes it especially suitable for collectors who value the original series look, or builders planning a White Base-era display with Guncannon and Guntank.
