For DPC 2026, we are putting more focus on story, scene, expression, and the overall feeling of a build.
This year is not only about who can build the cleanest kit. Of course, good craftsmanship and painting still matter, but we also want to see how each builder presents an idea, creates a scene, and gives the model a stronger reason to be there.
To support this direction, we are happy to begin our judge spotlight with Mr. Jeff Ho.

What This Means for DPC 2026
DPC 2026 is a diorama-year contest. That means the judging is not only about whether a kit is nicely painted, but also about whether the whole entry works as a complete scene.
A good entry should have intention. The model, pose, base, colours, details, and atmosphere should work together to tell the viewer something.
With Mr. Jeff Ho’s competition background and judging experience, we believe his perspective will add another experienced eye to DPC 2026. His experience covers not only clean execution, but also how a finished work is presented and how it creates impact as a complete piece.
What This Means for Participants
Having an experienced judging panel does not mean DPC 2026 is only for advanced builders. It simply means we want every participant to think a little deeper about their work.
You do not need to create the most complicated scene. But your entry should have a clear idea. It should show what you are trying to express.
Before submitting your entry, try asking yourself:
- What is happening in this scene?
- Why is the model posed this way?
- Do the colours and weathering support the story?
- Can people understand the mood of the build when they look at it?
- Does the whole entry feel complete?
These small questions can help make your build stronger, even without adding too many extra parts or effects.
The DPC 2026 Judging Panel
Mr. Jeff Ho will be joined by Mr. KW Yong and Mr. SH Chong as part of the DPC 2026 judging panel.
While this article focuses on Mr. Jeff Ho as our judge spotlight, the final judging will be carried out as a panel. Each judge will look at the entries from a different angle, so the contest is not about chasing only one fixed style.
Mr. KW Yong is a veteran Gunpla builder who has been active in the Gunpla scene for more than 15 years. With years of hands-on building experience and involvement in the local hobby community, his judging perspective will add another practical Gunpla builder’s eye to DPC 2026.
Mr. SH Chong is the founder of DeToyz Shop and has been involved in scale model building for more than 20 years. Over the past decade, he has organized model contests and community activities through DeToyz, with the aim of helping more people in Negeri Sembilan discover and enjoy the hobby.
His judging perspective is shaped by his interest in colour use, weathering, storytelling, and how a finished model can carry a stronger sense of scene and expression.
Together, the judging panel will look at the entries not only from technical execution, but also from concept, presentation, creativity, and overall impact.
A clean technical build, a strong painted finish, a creative scene, or a build with strong overall impact can all have their own chance to stand out.
