Overview

The distinctive AMX-103 Hamma-Hamma from Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ finally joins Bandai’s High Grade 1/144 model-kit series.

Developed by Neo Zeon as an experimental heavy mobile suit, the Hamma-Hamma was tested by Mashymre Cello and the Endra team. Although equipped with thick armour and a heavily built silhouette, its numerous thrusters provided considerable mobility for space combat.

Its most recognisable feature is the pair of wire-guided forearms. Each claw-shaped hand incorporates a three-barrel beam cannon and can be launched from the body for remote attacks using the mobile suit’s experimental Psycommu system.

This HG release recreates the deployed-arm system with flexible lead wires, arm-extension components and dedicated supports. Builders can display one or both forearms separated from the main body while adjusting the claws into different attack positions.

Pull-out mechanisms in the arms and hip joints expand the model’s articulation without compromising its broad proportions. The mono-eye is movable, while the large shield includes Beam Saber storage and a sliding rail mechanism inspired by the Hamma-Hamma’s mine-deployment system.

With its unusual remote weapons, elaborate Neo Zeon styling and imposing 1/144 presence, this long-awaited HG kit fills an important gap in the Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ Gunpla collection.

DeToyz Note

Hamma-Hamma has long been a major omission from the modern 1/144 Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ lineup. This new release finally gives collectors an HG version that can be displayed alongside other current Neo Zeon model kits.

The remote forearms are the centrepiece. Bandai has included extension components, four lead wires and dedicated supports rather than limiting the kit to fixed attached arms. This allows the Hamma-Hamma’s experimental Psycommu attacks to become part of the display instead of existing only as surface detail.

The movable mono-eye, claw hands, pull-out articulation and shield rail add further interaction, while its broad armour and unusual head design give it a strong shelf presence even before the wired weapons are deployed.

For collectors building Mashymre Cello’s mobile-suit lineup or completing the early Neo Zeon forces from Gundam ZZ, this is an especially important new release.
