Overview

HGUC 1/144 Unicorn Gundam 03 Phenex (Destroy Mode) [Narrative Ver.] recreates the golden RX-0 unit as it appears in Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative.

Phenex is the third Unicorn Gundam unit, distinguished by its metallic-gold exterior, blue Psycho-Frame, and two large Armed Armor DE units mounted behind the body. For the Narrative version, each Armed Armor DE receives a long tail stabilizer, creating the wing-like silhouette associated with Phenex in the film.

The exterior armor is molded in metallic gold, allowing the model to achieve a bright gold appearance without requiring full painting. Translucent blue parts reproduce the exposed Psycho-Frame in Destroy Mode, while the Armed Armor DE units and articulated tail sections give the completed kit strong presence from both the front and rear.

DeToyz Note

HGUC Phenex Narrative Ver. is mainly about shelf presence. The gold body, blue Psycho-Frame, two Armed Armor DE units, and long tail stabilizers give it a very different silhouette from Unicorn Gundam and Banshee.

This standard release uses metallic-gold molded plastic rather than gold plating. It is more affordable and easier to handle than the coated edition, but careful nub cleanup is important because cut marks can stand out against the gold surface.

The two tail units make the finished model look best in an airborne pose. A display base is therefore worth adding, both for stability and to show the flowing rear silhouette more clearly. For a straightforward finish, clean nub removal, selective panel lining, and a few painted details are usually enough without covering the metallic-gold plastic.
