Overview

The RX-0 Unicorn Gundam in Destroy Mode marks a major milestone in the HGUC line, released as the 100th HGUC kit. This version focuses on capturing the dramatic transformation and on-screen proportions from Mobile Suit Gundam UC, emphasizing articulation, layered armor separation, and the iconic psycho-frame glow.

Rather than prioritizing full transformation gimmicks, Bandai chose a smart parts-separation approach to clearly express the “burst-open” look of Destroy Mode, resulting in a more solid build and cleaner silhouette at 1/144 scale.

Unicorn is one of those designs where Destroy Mode really is the character. I like this HGUC version because it doesn’t try to do everything — it focuses on getting the look and proportions right. The clear psycho-frame still pops nicely straight out of the box, and the build feels solid once completed.

If you mainly want a display-ready Unicorn in Destroy Mode, this is honestly one of the most stress-free ways to enjoy it.
