Overview

The ultimate mobile suit from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom becomes the third release in Bandai’s high-end Master Grade Extreme series.

The ZGMF/A-262PD-P Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam is formed when Strike Freedom Gundam Type II equips the Proud Defender. Piloted by Kira Yamato with Lacus Clyne aboard the Proud Defender, this final configuration combines overwhelming combat capability with one of the most visually radiant designs in the Gundam SEED franchise.

Each MGEX release is developed around a different extreme-expression theme. For Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam, Bandai has selected “radiant colour expression,” using advanced plating, surface finishing and specialised injection materials to create a layered golden appearance throughout the model.

The kit introduces the first use of Mechanical Core Plating on coloured plastic in Gunpla history. Multiple types of gold plating are combined with Extra Finish and Real Metallic Gloss Injection, producing contrasting shades and textures across the exposed golden frame.

Its internal structure is based on the highly articulated MGEX Strike Freedom Gundam frame, which features the greatest number of frame-linked movement mechanisms in Master Grade history. Selected components have been newly sculpted to reproduce the Mighty Strike Freedom configuration and its equipment.

The Proud Defender, Disruptor, Futsunomitama anti-ship sword and experimental Type 35 Kai Railgun are included alongside the mobile suit’s Beam Rifles, Beam Sabers and Beam Shield. Multiple Kira Yamato and Lacus Clyne figure configurations also recreate important character moments from the film.

MGEX Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam is designed as a premium display piece rather than simply a larger version of the existing HG release.

The main attraction is its combination of finish and mechanical construction. Several different gold treatments create visual separation across the exposed frame, while the MGEX Strike Freedom-based structure provides extensive linked movement beneath the armour.

For collectors who already own MGEX Strike Freedom Gundam, this release shares its core frame technology. Its new value comes from the Mighty Strike Freedom-specific armour and equipment, Proud Defender, revised gold treatment, Disruptor, Futsunomitama, experimental railgun and expanded Kira and Lacus figure selection.

The ability to position Lacus aboard the Proud Defender, inside the cockpit or standing on the Gundam’s chest gives the kit an unusual character-driven display element that directly connects it to the film’s final sequence.

With its March 2027 release, high-end surface finishes and flagship status as only the third MGEX model, this is expected to become one of Bandai’s most significant Gundam SEED model kits.
