Overview

The RX-79(G) Gundam Ground Type from Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team makes its long-awaited debut in Bandai’s Real Grade series.

Developed by the Earth Federation Forces for combat under gravity, the Gundam Ground Type became one of the defining mobile suits of the Southeast Asian front during the One Year War. Its realistic military appearance, adaptable equipment and memorable ground-combat tactics make it especially well suited to the detail-focused RG format.

Both the mobile suit and its extensive weapon loadout have been produced with completely new tooling. Fine mechanical detailing and carefully engineered waist-and-leg frame structures allow the kit to recreate deep crouching, kneeling and supported firing positions from the anime.

The backpack can carry the included Weapon Container, with a raising and lowering mechanism built into its mounting structure. The 180mm Cannon can be separated for storage inside the container, recreating the Gundam Ground Type’s mobile battlefield loadout.

Opening chest panels expose the chest weapon and cockpit hatch, while the leg-mounted Beam Saber racks can also be opened. With six different weapon types, selectable antenna colours and a ground-effect part for supporting the shield, this RG release provides a remarkably complete representation of the RX-79(G).

Bandai has focused this release around those characteristics. The new waist-and-leg frame supports the low, grounded poses seen throughout The 08th MS Team, while the opening chest, leg-mounted saber racks and functional Weapon Container provide plenty of mechanical interaction.

The generous armament selection is another major advantage. With a Machine Gun, Beam Rifle, Rocket Launcher, 180mm Cannon, Beam Sabers and Shield included, builders can recreate multiple mission configurations without purchasing a separate weapon set.
