The DeAgostini 1/8 Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86 is built across 110 issues, covering the 4A-GEU engine, chassis and suspension, steering, electrical gimmicks, interior, bodywork and final assembly.

DeToyz Studio is documenting the complete build from Issue 1 to completion — including fitting problems, build notes, custom parts, electrical checks and things I would do differently along the way.

This is not only about the finished model. It is a record of how the project develops, stage by stage.

What Goes Into the AE86.

Across 110 issues, the AE86 develops system by system — from the 4A-GEU engine and chassis to the electrical gimmicks, interior, bodywork and custom parts.

CURRENT PROGRESS

Issue 45 Completed.

The 4A-GEU engine is installed, the chassis is standing on the RS Watanabe wheels, and the build has now moved into the electrical system and working gimmicks.

The circuit board and wiring are in place, and the remote controller has been assembled. Before more parts cover the electrical system, I have also started testing the gimmicks while everything is still accessible.

There is still a long way to go — 65 issues remain.

Beyond the Standard Build

This build will not remain completely standard.

It already uses the RS Watanabe wheel set, with additional custom parts planned as the project progresses.

Whenever a custom part is added, I’ll document how it fits, what changes from the standard assembly and anything worth checking before installation.

Custom parts can also be incorporated into a DeToyz Studio full build where suitable.
