What Goes Into the AE86.
Across 110 issues, the AE86 develops system by system — from the 4A-GEU engine and chassis to the electrical gimmicks, interior, bodywork and custom parts.
Issue 99 Completed.
The AE86 body is now largely assembled, with both front doors, windshield, roof trim, quarter windows, rear body panels, taillights and back door all in place.
The interior and chassis have already been joined, the steering mechanism is working, and the lighting system has been tested along the way.
With Issue 99 completed, only 11 issues remain. The build is now entering its final stretch before the completed body, chassis and remaining custom parts come together.

Beyond the Standard Build
This build will not remain completely standard.
It already uses the RS Watanabe wheel set, with additional custom parts planned as the project progresses.
Whenever a custom part is added, I’ll document how it fits, what changes from the standard assembly and anything worth checking before installation.
Custom parts can also be incorporated into a DeToyz Studio full build where suitable.
Label the Wiring First
Several black wires and hoses look similar once routing begins, so label them before installation.
Test Before It Gets Buried
Test the electrical gimmicks while the circuit board and wiring are still accessible.
Don’t Overtighten the Wheels
Tighten the RS Watanabe wheel screws only enough to secure them. The wheels should still rotate freely.
